Dinner Dance and AGM

The Society’s annual Dinner Dance will take place this year in the Dining Room of the GUU on Saturday the 5th of May.

Held every year, this is the society’s chance to cast aside their society hoodies and get on their glad rags for a delicious meal, heartwarming/gut-wrenching speeches and a night of ceilidh dancing!

Ben Miller will be returning as our Guest Speaker, and Abbie Mac will be giving the vote of thanks. I can’t wait to hear both speeches so you would all do well to make it along and hear them!

The ceilidh band returning to us this year is ‘It’s No Reel’.

All members are of course welcome and each person is allowed to bring their own date, from within or outwith the society! So long as I know you’re bringing someone new along and you buy them a ticket, it’s absolutely fine to bring a guest. The more the merrier!

———————————————————————————————————————-

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Thursday 10th May 2012 at 7pm in Committee Room 1 of the QMU. Everyone is encouraged to come along and vote in your new committee for the upcoming year, as well as hearing the current/soon to be old committee’s report on the year just past.

If you would like to be a member of next year’s committee, the deadline for nominations is 7pm on Wednesday 9th May 2012. If you are interested, please ask a current committee member for more details.

Brace Yourselves…. The Weekend Away Is Coming!

That’s right, it’s that time of year again when we all get on a bus and take a trip to the braw Scottish countryside. After all our hard work on the show last month, we deserve a little R&R&OF (rest & recuperation & organised fun).

The trip will be the weekend of 23rd-25th March 2012. We will be meeting outside the GUU at 5pm on the Friday, ready to set off on our adventure to… Dunolly, Aberfeldy! Hooray!

The weekend will cost £40 which covers your travel, accommodation, and food. If you’d like to come, speak to Elliott – but be warned: there are limited spaces and they are going fast!

8/12/11 Rehearsals CANCELLED – a note from Yasmin:

Guys, really sorry but tonight’s rehearsal is CANCELLED. Due to blinking obvious circumstances if you have been around Facebook at all. The QM is closed and people are being advised to stay in their homes for their own safety so we do not want to compromise that!!

Boys involved in ‘It’s a Scandal, It’s a Outrage’ we would like to reschedule this for Sunday afternoon as we can’t afford to fit it in somewhere else. Apologies for short notice and any inconvenience. I’m going to text you all but please let me know if you are available so we can get it planned as soon as possible! Thanks!!

STAY SAFE EVERYONE!!!! xxxxxxxxxxx

ANYTHING GOES

The Weekend Show is fast approaching! We invite you aboard our 24 hour production of Anything Goes THIS THURSDAY 22nd September 2011 at 7pm in Committee Room 1, QMU.

Come along and get involved whether you’re a singer, dancer, actor, techie, or complete novice! We have an open chorus policy, which means you don’t even have to audition to be in the show. For those interested in principal parts, we will be holding group auditions tomorrow evening, but don’t worry about preparing anything – we’ll teach you everything you need to know beforehand. All you’ll need to bring with you is a bottle of water and £3, which is your membership for the entire year.

We will be rehearsing 7-10pm Thursday, 7-10pm Friday*, 10am-10pm Saturday, and 10am right up until show time at 7.30pm on Sunday!
(*Please note, if you are cast in a principal part you will be needed earlier on the Friday, times to be confirmed.)

So ALL ABOARD and we hope to see you there!
