First of all, just want to say a major thank you to everyone that came along last night. I can’t believe how great you’re all sounding and looking just with the audition material! I realise that a lot of information was thrown at you all last night, so thought I would put a bit of it on here.
When are the auditions taking place?Auditions will be taking place on the weekend of the 9th/10th October at the QMU. You will be able to sign up for an audition slot at the next pre-audition rehearsal which will be taking place on Thursday 7th October.
Help! I can’t make the next pre-audition rehearsal!If this is the case *please* don’t worry. Just give me a text on 07984 033 004 and we can sort you out an audition time.
You mentioned something about specialist dancers?Correctamondo! We will be auditioning for Specialist Dancers on Thursday 7th October at 9:30pm. It would be great if as many people as possible can audition for Specialist Dancer. We won’t be casting them until after the auditions. With this being a high energy show with all principals dancing it won’t do anything but help your chances.
Again, if you can’t make next Thursday but would like to audition for a specialist dancer, get in touch!
What do I have to do in my audition?Everyone will be singing Baggy Trousers + 1 other song in your audition pack (Girls – NW5/WoaD Boys – DIMC/OH). You will also be dancing to Baggy Trousers. I would like everyone to perform 3 acting pieces of the options available. It would also be great if you could try to sing and dance once at the same time at the end.
You will have someone from the audition panel acting with you. There is time available for you to take the person you’re acting with away for a couple of minutes to tell them what you want to do in the scene.
Will I get a warm-up/a chance to go through the dance at all?Yes! Yes you will, but they are completely optional. We also ask for everyone’s range – if you’re unsure of this we can also do a range test with you.
You mentioned something about accents last night?Yes! I did. All of the characters in the show are cockney APART FROM JOE'S MUM KATH. If you're going for Kath, then we would like to hear a Northern Irish accent.
Do I have to audition for a specific part?Nope! You can audition for anything you want to! You get the chance to specify on your audition slip any roles you want to go for, but you can just put 'anything' on there as well.
I don’t want to audition.That’s ok – you can still come along and be in the chorus, however there are lots of bit parts in this show, so it would be great if we could see what people can do.
Who will be on the audition panel?On the original audition panel there will be myself, Amy, Colin and Cat. At the callbacks we will be joined by Susanne and Ashleigh. Paul will also be in the room to accompany you for singing/dancing. What happens in the audition room stays in the audition room.
Callbacks?We will ask certain people to come back and see us on Tuesday 12th October so we can see a little more of what everyone can do.
I didn’t get called back/I didn’t get a part...does that mean I can’t be in the show?Not at all! Cecilians work on an open chorus policy – everyone can get involved. Also, just because you didn’t get called back doesn’t mean that you haven’t got a part so make sure you’re there on Thursday 14th October when we’ll be announcing the parts.
I don’t think I’ll be able to do it without the words in my hand. Help!It’s absolutely fine to have your words with you, but it is much easier for us to see what you can do without a bit of paper in your hand.
I’m running late to the auditions, what do I do?Give me a text on 07984 033 004 and I will call you back as soon as I can. As there are other auditions going on, it is very unlikely I will be able to answer my phone until an audition has finished.
