In Age of Arousal 5 women – 5 ‘ferociously odd’ women - living through the suffragette era are brought together through their endeavours to master the modern invention that will set them free from the shackles of marriage and child-rearing: the typewriter. Their struggle for equality and sexual freedom is viewed through a 21st century lens; think gorgeous corsets and bustles smashed together with hoodies and twin-sets and a fair bit of stylish cross-dressing from the ladies. Pride of place in the set are 3 beautiful old Remington typewriters in all their clickety-clackety glory. Chuck in some slightly surreal carnival-esque music and dancing and you’ve got an entertaining - and arousing – look at how far women have come on their journey to emancipation.
