Our overseas correspondent

Hello Everyone,

Just arrived in the South Island of New Zealand. It is such an amazing day today, it is so sunny and hot. Spent the 3 hour ferry journey sunbathing despite the cold wind!!! I was supposed to be going sky-diving today over the National Park but unfortunately it was cancelled which is really annoying as it is perfect weather for it - clear blue skies and no wind!!!!

Tomorrow I am going on a half day kayaking trip through the national park around Nelson - that is if I can cope - I went white water rafting in River Valley in the North Island two days ago across grade 5 rapids and my arms still ache!!! I was very brave (or crazy) when rafting and jumped off a cliff into the river. It was amazing fun.

We got the ferry this morning from Wellington. The hostel that we were staying in was right across the road from the theatre that The Two Towers was premiered in and it had a giant Gollum coming out of the roof and a huge ring outside it which was very cool! We went to the Lord of the Rings exhibition yesterday which had all the costumes, models and weapons from the film. You could even touch the weapons. I got my photo taken as I would look if I was a hobbit which is very funny!!!

Only have just over a week left in New Zealand before I finally head to Sydney. I am going to fill this time by trekking across the glacier at Franz Josef and perhaps by doing a bungy jump in Queenstown - we'll have to see how brave I'm feeling that day!

Anyway, better go - am very tired after doing all these exciting and strenous activities. Hope you are all well. Promise in the future I will get better at replying to peoples emails individually. Highly recommend that everyone visits New Zealand as it's such a fab country, especially when the rain stops and the sun comes out (it's very like Soctland with the weather)!!!! Speak to you all soon.

Love and Hugs Lorna xxx
